Mademoiselles Equinox

Here are my dear little ladies. It took me a long time to finish them. I grabbed them and leave them in between other projects but it seems they're complete now.

The name came spontaneously, without "thinking". When I read more about the Equinox, it was interesting to realize that it implies the same duration of day and night. That clearly speaks to me of the black and white balance in them.

That's the way the dolls work in me, for me, from me. Intuitive association, creative thinking, connecting the conscious and unconscious, bringing elements that I found outside, and pulling elements from my inside, that I'm sometimes not aware of.

Thanks for stopping by!

More sweet faces...

Awaiting to be part of a story!

And the sweet expressions come also in 3D...

And my 3 mademoiselles are finished. I'll show them in all their glory soon but here's a preview.

With you, "Mademoiselles Equinox"

(Wilkipedia says: The name "equinox" is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day have approximately equal length)

From time to time new little creatures come to visit me.

Paint, paint, paint

The father of my (human) creatures has been away for the week on a trip. I've managed to keep it going relatively well. Having them reasonably happy, fed and...alive! is a job for which I feel accomplished ;)

I've been working a lot painting my big order.

The painted pieces together look like candy, don't they?

And when everything starts to make sense it never fails to fill me with cheer and positive energy.

Oh the power of color!

Dolls update

Hi there! Anyone reading this blog for some time (hi Mom!) knows I have a project involving dolls going on for quite some time.

I've come back from Buenos Aires with renewed inspiration and a great desire to go back into my world of dolls and I'll show you the last update.

Next time you see these guys they're going to be all beautiful, with dyed hairs, elegant outfits and make up.

When I was 3 I saw a cartoon of Gulliver's Travels on TV. It made such an impact that I immediately started drawing. Like crazy. every single minute. I never had enough paper.

I drew everything but most of all I loved drawing little women. And their stories went on and on in my mind while I filled endless blank pages with images.

My love for drawing women characters was what sent me to the University to study Fashion Design, and later on, took me into sculpture to experiment a fantastic world of female creatures coming from I don't know where.

And even in the present, expressing these creatures is the most authentic art form that I can find.

I'm working in some new little women that I'll be showing in time. I'll let them speak to me for a while and when I know what stories they want to tell, I'll share them here.

Thanks for reading!

I'm so happy to be back, to be working, to have my hands dirty again!
I love to do my stuff and have my kids around, playing on their own . Yes, I admit I'd like better to play with my stuff than to play with them - but always very close and aware of their moves and interactions of course!

Working in a big batch for Gorgeous and Green.

And testing my new textures recently brought from Argentina.

If all the craftiness is sweetened by some Sunday breakfast homemade delish, life is even better!

Mmm... this batch turned the best ever so far!

Come Back

I'm back! It was delicious to be in Argentina and immersed in the texture and depth of its rich culture.

We made a record of re-adjustment in just 2 days. Piles of suitcases were put away. Tons of laundry, done and folded, necessary grocery shopping, etc. After a 22 hours trip and the consequent jetlag that's to say a lot!

I'm happy to be back and tremendously inspired to do new things. Projects have started to cook in the back of my mind during this trip, and while I get back to work in the real business and in the very missed jewelry work, the new stuff is slowly shaping up.

Maybe I should restrain and focus but a bit of experimentation is healthy and allowed.

Back to right now, my hands are busy with orders that have accumulated over the past month. I'm very thankful for understanding customers- I'm shipping all May orders this week.

And a bit of the new jewelry stuff I'll be working on over the next future (in a raw state)

Thanks so much for stopping by!
