Snapshots of lately

We're spending our days playing with the few things we have here with us. The kids and I are making the most of what we have and I'm delighted to see how very creative we turn when we have less things around.

Intensive Lego building at breakfast time every morning.

Paper toys make wonderful adventures. Boats, planes and cut our drawings are as good as real Playmobile or Lego.

I can't stop playing with the pencil colors (I brought them as a present for a little girl but had to open them myself as a self help measure in this transition and stressful times. A new world of color is coming out of them. An unexpected gift.)

And just for the records: a breakfast for myself- those oat-raisins cookies are really the best!

Buenos Aires

Days of going to bed late and sleeping in. Heat, noise, play, park. Adjusting to sounds, to food, to new routines. Slowly some things are falling into place.

Our mornings with the kids consist in drawing on the kitchen table. Much spontaneous play under this Southern Sun.

And for me, I had to grab the only creative supply I had around: color pencils, and to my amazement, a world of creatures (many coming from Ed Emberley's books) have shown up.

Before and after

So we had that for about a week, and after that we got something like this for about 3 or 4 days.

We were hugged and fed. Very sweet farewells from our dearest friends there.

Then we had a flight, and arrived safely here.

Here's hot and busy. People are buzzing with excitement and noise. The end of the year is always like this in these latitudes.

Our bodies and minds are now faced with the enormous challenges of finding a new home, relearning a  city with new transformed codes, relearning ourselves in front of so much change.

We feel well equipped for this big adventure.

It's also an opportunity to notice the endless, mostly useless activity of the mind creating wave after wave of judgment, elaborations, comparisons, and cages of likes and dislikes.

Educational indeed :P

The house is empty

The guys from the moving company did their job. The came, created a whirlwind for 3 days and left. Our entire pile of stuff fit in the container. Relief! I thought it wouldn't.

They made a good, professional job although didn't care too much for the previous classification of my own stuff. The principle was: fill every little empty spot.

Although it was stressful, it wasn't that bad after all. No reason to be sleepless in advance as I was.

The house is now empty. It's fun. We all 4 share a few dishes, sleep all together in one big family bed (mattress on the floor). There's not much to do now except some cleaning, last minute errands and enjoying precious moments with dear friends. Last night, sushi and champagne in Vicky's house: how chic! Sushi is a very popular and easy to find food here (although we got the best sushi in town)

Today we'll spend another leisure day: while the kids are at school we'll go to Granville Island to say goodbye to our favorite spot in the city and to have lunch at the new restaurant there. Granted, there will be a visit to Opus Art while Pablo has a working meeting.

The kis will take some souvenirs to school today. We hope to stay in touch with the little friends as well!

Excitement, nervousness, tenderness, fleeting tears here and there, some hunger for new adventures.

The feeling that in front of the new and unknown, we're going to be really, really fine.

Movement

Lots of things going on.

Cardboard boxes everywhere.
Computer crash- already fixed.
Goodbyes to dear friends.
Packing.
Planning.
Phone calls.
Trowing away. Lots. And lots. And lots.
Buying things to take to Argentina.
More packing.
Reading of old journals. Our early days as immigrants in Canada.
Feeling grateful.
Some sadness.
Connection with the future.
Visualization of the new house.
A walk on the forest- Beautiful and cold!
Another bit of packing.

Sweet kisses! I'll be busy for now.

Palomaria will reopen early next year- as soon as we're settled again.
I'll be working as usual.

For now, the shop is on vacation. I'm a very busy bee on the domestic field.
I may or may not write this blog in the meantime.

Just in case: very happy holidays!

Sea Green Earrings

I don't have so many earrings in my shop but the few I have seem to be well appreciated. I'll work in more models in the upcoming months.

Here's the latest addition.

It's a Holiday in Canada and we're off to Science World with the kids and Gabe,  Mica's buddy.

November

Lately we've been doing horrible, horrible things.
There were spooky fingers, monsters, and bags filled with candy.

A couple of times we lit the fireplace (although it's not too cold yet the children love it)

And mornings have been remarkable easier!

Soon we'll be packing our entire house for our move to Argentina. People ask me if I'm excited...well, that's not a word to describe the predominant clouds of feelings that appear at this moment. There's the inevitable stress, some mourning for our current life, but also the fleeting images of the great moments that we remember from the past in Argentina: the forest and seaside at the beach, the dear friends. The possibility of seeing grandma in half an hour!

While I look forward to be settled there as soon as possible and have the children well adjusted to the new, I'm more than ever reminding myself to dwell in the present. On the way to school every morning I look at the spectacular red of the Japanese Maple trees and let the color and the tree sink deep in me. I love those trees and want them to be in me forever!

Honey Bee

Let me share my new pieces. They're dainty, they're feminine, they make sweet gifts for women of every age!

Sweet Honey Bee in gold and silver (clay treated with metallic acrylic patinas)

And in the topic of bees, I'm inspired today by the Etsy shop review of this perfume creator.

Sunny

A beautiful sunny day has proved the forecast wrong. These days are tremendously appreciated after the last couple of very rainy, dark ones. After the summer you forget all about the rain...until it comes back and the body and mind feel heavy and sleepy and you  suddenly understand why some animals hibernate.

Topics of the day at home are: monsters (in preparation for Mica's birthday), Pumpkins, zombies and Halloween in general. I love to see Mica so excited and in the mood for :)

I've taken advantage of the great light today and had a lovely photo session with almost 10 new, hot items for the shop. I love to make and upload new things! While I was shooting my camera, the phone, speakers on, and a long talk with my mom and later with my dear friend S. in Argentina.

For a Winter wedding

A couple months ago I've received a custom order. I had to create a bridesmaids necklace set for a  winter wedding.

My chance of using a new foliage pattern (on the pendant)

And some delicious pine comb charms.
Very sweet and Icy with a touch of gold sparkle to warm things up!
