Random on Saturday

Late, late rise from bed today...9:30...I had to look at my watch seemed it was not working well. But it was! And Theo and Mica awoke even later than I. An historical record since I'm a mom and for my kids too.

Pablo is away, coming back today. Today I've decided to rest with intention. I really need a day of resting. Of not doing anything in particular.

School is over for my both kids now. This week was the last. I'm really looking forward to slower mornings not having to rush the dressing, the breakfast, the brushing of teeth.

And after all this scrumptious ode to laziness, I'll share some very cute minuscule blocks of clay I've been doing, using teenie tiny font types that I've acquired recently.

I'm always telling my kids that real fun and happiness comes from within. From whatever they can invent and create rather than from things they acquire.

Even at this very young age they are aware that new toys produce excitement just for a little while. And then, they're forgotten. Both kids have a real experience of that. When I remind them, they can relate. They know.

We've been doing Paper Robots: toys we can make ourselves! There're tons of patterns online!

I love fonts with passion. It's not strange since I've been designing stationery for more than 15 years.  I've invested in pretty fonts way more than in clothes or any other self indulgent item. (And I'm aware that fonts are for me what shoes or perfume are for some other women)

And after this prologue, to the point: I've found the prettiest font ever: Bombshell by Emily Line. It's the closest to a beautiful freehand calligraphic writing that any commercial font can offer.

Now my packages are really pretty!

Happy Solstice

Happy Solstice!

Saturday, June 16, 2012

It's been awhile since I've been here. Pablo's parents visiting from Argentina kept us happily busy and very much in "family" plan. We've been sharing meals, going outs, and even a short trip to Seattle.

The kids were excited and lavished with an attention they're not used to have. They really enjoyed their "Abus" to the max.

My creative impulses for the past weeks were toward my The la Plata line. Fuelled by the trip to Seattle, that for some reason inspires me in that direction. After another lovely lunch at Cafe Flora, we stopped at the toy shop. Pablo, the abus and the kids entered and I stayed on the car at the parking lot for a memorable (short but extremely productive) session of sketching and designing new pieces.

A couple of those designs are already a real thing. (pics coming very soon)

In the meantime let me share some older The la Plata creations (and please make sure to stop by the shop if you want to see more)

Little Girl

A small bracelet for a sweet baby girl...when is a girl old enough to wear a bracelet? 18 months I guess...
