New for Fall

I's always exciting to add brand new pieces. I really love this new soft grey and pink necklace with silver accents. It's from the bridesmaid set I've shown a little while ago. I always have requests for singles from the sets I offer. I feel this series will be liked!

I really like the color of the bead! Very "pearly" and ladylike!

Early Bird

In an effort to perfect the "art of mornings" I got a timer and a big clock today. The purpose is to have the kids dressed and teeth brushed on time.

I'm always the bad guy repeating the same until we're all sick of hearing me (I'm the first to get sick). I lose my patience, shout and become a real monster of a mom. I feel very bad afterwards. Guilty, get the picture.

So I've explained them the rules clearly and thanks to this new little gadgets I hope there will be an objective indicator that they have to ACTIVATE in the morning.

Best luck to us! May our mornings become a breeze and I learn to be more patient and calm.

On our trip to Portland I went to Blick in the Pearl district and picked my birthday present (from my mom). I've been thinking for some time that I wanted to try mono block printing and carve my own blocks, so I made a nice selection of elements to do that.

I carved this rubber block. It was so easy and pleasurable since the material is deliciously soft

And I've tried linoleum too that was not difficult either although it went slower and my hand hurt a bit after some time. It took me a couple of days.

The carved block is a beautiful thing in itself. I thought how the background is as much part of the composition as the main image.

I've made some proofs. I've used different inks. Acrylics and xylography ink.

It's been so nice...I'm sure there will be more. The carved background triggered new ideas for jewelry pieces for The La Plata. I'm planning a whole change of direction for that line.

Tomorrow I'll be reopening Palomaria! My hands miss the clay.

What a vacation!

My mom and I joke about her travel/visit this time...we say: what a vacation!
So much has been happening this month...the equivalent of a year.

Since the flood early in August and to allow the reparations works we've been so far to 4 hotels

(of course I'm including 2 well spent on our mini Seattle-Portland vacation)

Portland was so so lovely...I could happily live there if alone for Powells Books

A sweet boy got 7 in Portland!

Lovely little city...

And enjoying the life in the hotel

Now a new hotel in Vancouver...not as tourists but as temporary residents. From here Mica and Theo started school, both with happy stories to share. I was very relieved to see them starting school OK from our hotel platform. The thought of it made me feel very anxious for the past weeks but as usual, things are worse in my imagination than in real life!

More beautiful sights from our downtown terrace. I can get used to this easy living!

Tonight the kids are sleeping a couple rooms away with grandma and I miss them quite a disproportional lot, given that a mere 4 hours ago I almost forced them to go through the door to sleep in her room!
