Happy Holidays

We're off on vacations tomorrow. This is my last post of the year. It's been a wonderful year of learning, sharing with my dear people and creating.

Those are the words for this upcoming year. For me and for all of you.

These are more than a wish. They're a fact! Right here, right now, for all of us.

Cheers and Amen!

Deep thanks from the bottom of my heart...and more please :)

M was here and we had a blast working, enjoying each other company and experimenting with food.
She taught me how to make cheese from sunflower seeds. Squeeze, shape and voila!

Enjoy with a coat of sesame + Himalayan salt mix powder. And looks pretty too!

Then she showed me how to make sunflower+almond+coconut milk. Very easy and beyond delicious. You can enjoy this milk with coffee and better yet in smoothies with fruit (so you don't apply heat and kill the nutrients)

This milk makes me very happy because for a long time I've been avoiding giving milk to the boys knowing that cow milk is of very little nutritional value and cause of mucus. With this one I'll be able to offer them a great alternative. (While they didn't like it alone, it passed the test in a smoothie). Hurray for seeds milk and for my new blender! Such a source of joy- I can't believe I've gone so far without one.

With the remaining solids after the milk is drained, you get this amazing "bagazo". A healthy ground mix of almond, sunflower and coconut that, together with fruit and honey made a 5 stars breakfast - Pablo approved with delight- what's not to love in it! And nothing is waisted.

So I'm amazed and grateful for all this new knowledge. I feel great bringing healthy food to my family and already planning variations to these using other seeds (I'm trying cashew cheese and walnut milk soon)

Finally, and also on the food front, this is the new delight we've been savouring these days: grapefruit from a "mate" steel straw. Nothing simpler and fresher and more delicious than this in a hot summer day~

Some more new pieces and lots of Holiday Packing lately....

All sent out

Today, and with the help of my friend Mariana, we sent away the last batch of Christmas orders.
A few more in line to be dispatched rush free and to arrive after the Holidays. It feels great to be over the Holiday Rush. I could have extended my order schedule and still be (kind of) OK but I wanted to play it safe and to have a respite for other things going on. The end of school year, with its open classes, concerts, and events of all sorts. The visit of our dearest friends from Canada who are staying with us for a night or two. A small trip to the countryside to celebrate Oli's B-day and in another week, going out on vacations.

I went with a good advice I once heard: get MORE help that you think you need...and it worked like a charm :)

That time of the year

It is the time of the year when the Holidays set up an expectation, a preparation and everything accelerates. Orders, inquiries, strict shipping deadlines that equal strict production deadlines.

Many lovely custom orders that generate new pieces for my collection.

I'm tired but loving all the buzz.

On the domestic front here's the end of school year and that alone has its own set of school concerts, parent attending classes, meetings with teachers. The closing of a school year makes me think of how far and how well my kids have gone in this epic move. More on that later!

Colorful towns around the world

I found this in the digital newspaper today. How beautiful! I wish I could go to all this places! (Specially Cinque Terre and Stockholm)

I'm surprised at myself: how much I appreciate and value the weather we're enjoying...It's warm- not too humid. It feels like an embrace. Maybe I can only savour this now, after so many years in a harsher, colder, cloudier environment.

Last Thursday was a no school day and with the kids we walked the 9 blocks that separate us from the main street, to have ice creams

I enjoy our conversations...about life. About robbers. About many topics that are part of our daily lives now. Both Theo and Mica have many things to say. Many questions and theories. Such a joy to be around them these days

On Etsy Front Page

A lot of ideas for new pieces for my shop ThelaPlata have crossed my mind lately
How lovely to see one of my pieces on Etsy front page today in this well crafted treasury by Pedro Vieira. Thanks Pedro and how nice to receive this bit of ratification to develop this line further!

Some more earrings

These two are the kind of pieces I wear in my daily life. Delicate but with some edge. Very light and comfortable.

Working in a numer of new earrings. Lovely styles that I hope to upload in the next 2 days.

I'll post more pics as soon as I can process them

On the stove: some chickpeas and cauliflower ...trying to improvise something with some Indian reminiscence. Not too confident on my luck with this dish and the kids

Some sleepless nights lately...I'm very tired now!

Good dreams to you all!

Halloween Criollo

A little strange Halloween alla "Criolla" with empanadas, last minute costumes and improvisation all around. Definitely not NorthAmerican Halloween with the mood set a month in advance, but yet a fun moment shared with the kids and good new friends!

Today of all days...

Today of all days...
I'll show you my grays

Happy Halloween!

Mar del Plata II

Some clouds didn't bother us

Fun at the seaside, even on a cloudy day, even fully dressed (almost) and later very wet

Cafe at the Boston, a favorite of Pablo and I (Favorite book store a block apart was closed on a Sunday)

Real Birthday on the 21st with Plants Vs. Zombies Homemade card and his monster of choice as a present

More sea

Lunch with spectacular view (another favourite)

Our own wimpy kid was a little feverish that day

More Cafe at the Peralta Ramos Forest Neighbourhood (and alfajor- typical pastry of Argentina- filled with dulce de leche)

It was really chilly here

And candle on yummy chocolate cake at night at the hotel with grandma and uncle Emi

Breakfast farewell on Monday morning

And farewell to the calm, shiny, serene, spectacular, very beloved Atlantic Sea- I hope to be back again as soon as possible!
