Serena Necklace
A dark, cozy afternoon. Serena is having tea by the window, watching the raindrops on the glass. She feels quiet and centered. A deep breath.

Blim

I'm preparing for a Sale this Sunday.
It's Blim at Vancouver Heritage Hall. (Main @ 14th) - from noon to 5 PM.
I know it'll be great for 2 things: I'll be sharing the table with my good friend Tamar who will be selling her beautiful vintage jewelry, and the other reason: It's VERY likely that I'll have the help of my super special helper...yes, I'm talking about THE guy!

Bronze Pearls
Shape and color, color and shape and the infinite combination possibilities occupy my mind these days.
When I'm sleeping, fragments of these images come to my dreams...and some days they're filled with concrete/burgundy textured squares or green circles to give you an example.
So when I could achieve this warm metallic bronze on my paper beads to create a new (very exciting- soon to come) necklace...
well...I can say that I was VERY excited to say the least!

Hello World!
I had the pleasure of having my work featured in the great blog All Things Paper, a work of love of Ann Martin. I've discovered the blog not long ago and I was delighted and amazed to be able to get to knnow the work of so many supertalented paper artists. (Visit her and see for yourself)
As you can imagine it meant a lot to me that Ann took the time to so generously feature my own work. And the wonderful gift of this was to receive the visit of people from all around the world in this blog. I was following my traffic information table yesterday with uttermost delight to "receive" so many friends.
These days are bittersweet. The situation in Japan is omnipresent in my daily routine. I'm sticking to the news, maybe too much, wishing I'll soon read that the Fukushima situation is finally under control. I'm thinking of the people working in the plant, about all those residents close by, about those who have lost family and homes by the tsunami. Makes me feel very sad and scared.
At the same time, I'm focusing in the small gifts of everyday
With prayers and thoughts for relief of the current situation and for this being an opportunity for all of us, human beings.

Deco Project finale
So after my artwork was done and hanged there was a final touch of color that was needed
But I can tell you, these "butterflies" are so light, and happy and just feel the perfect final touch of my bedroom handmade decoration project.
And on a final note: I'm observing how the need of "quick" comes repeatedly to my creation process. In the last few years of maternity + running a business + life etc, I've just tried to cope by going faster and faster. Being quick has become the default, a hard to change habit.
I'm turning my focus to the necessity to relearn slow. And to the practice to go slower.
Melina: GO SLOW.
