Boudoir Lock
A weekend to regroup and rest a lot. Mica has a fever and the pace of the house is slow. This past week I've acknowledge how tired I was and I realized I needed a couple of days of not doing. Or better said: of doing the very basic and necessary: cook food, minimal keeping of the house.
And that's the tone of the weekend. Much rest. I'm writing on my laptop from bed. A lovely latte and some grapefruit wedges on one side. Theo drawing on the other. Pablo and Mica listening to music downstairs. Very good!
I'm sharing some final picks of another lock necklace that I've finished recently.
If some day I'm lucky to own a Gypsy style Caravan I'll certainly paint it in these colors!

Hands on
It;s been a busy month with Palomaria, working on several custom projects.
Soon some of the new pieces will be n the shop.
Creating something new is the most exciting part of the process for me.
I see so many of my sketches in my notebook becoming real pieces. That's very satisfactory.
Sometimes it seems that everything takes so long and projects never complete but when I go through the sketchbook and recognize some of my finished pieces in those initial stages I feel good to see that things are getting done even in the midst of a busy life.
And since I'm about to set up the new shop, here's a sneak peek of the new look and atmosphere.

Girls in camison

These very tiny women look like they're wearing a camisón. That's a Spanish word meaning a light nightgown...Every time I look at them in their whiteness I think what should I add to them...but they look so simple and sweet only wearing camison!

Doll Dioramas

I'm having an awful cold. Yesterday and most part of today I couldn't stand on my feet. Pablo is generously covering for me on the domestic front, while I have some hot rice soup in bed in front of the laptop on top of the blankets...ehem...

Anyway, I'll be back to be the usual multitasking soldier I'm everyday of my life.
Today I'll share these little doll dioramas (not even sure what's the name for these 3D collages) I've been doing a few days ago.

I've enjoyed making them so much! If not for other reason just to be finally able to use the antique botanical prints I'm so in love with. (backgrounds)
I'm sure there're many more coming for me.

Flamenco Dolls
The past days have been very very busy. In addition to the real job and the domestic realm, I've been working on a big wholesale order for Gorgeous and Green in San Francisco and a couple of orders from Etsy.
And in my "free" time, I keep adding to my new line of jewelry (soon to be revealed), and these days I had a new exciting project. A custom Flamenco doll.
Warning! spooky images ahead
This is the paper mache + polymer clay head structure. The pipecleaners are in place to hold the sleeves/arms.
First coat of paint.
Fast forward a big chunk and we have a more finished (but far away from completion) beauty.
The belle and the...
primitive.
My client will pick one and I'll keep the other. What's your favorite so far?
Big Hello to all the lovely visitors coming through All Things Paper
