Notes about these dolls

Unlike with jewelry where I see a piece in my mind first and then make it, with the dolls it’s an intuitive process where I don’t see the outcome beforehand.

I make them as I go, using what I have at hand and feels right.
As I make them and add a new element, if I feel a “yes” it stays and if it’s a “no” I’ll keep working and change it.
Eventually the outcome will have a coherence, an intelligence of its own, fed by the creative process through me.
It’s not my intellect or conscious mind that drives the process.

Because the dolls come through me, they will reveal aspects of myself, my inner landscapes and sensitivity.
I never try to make them “pretty” but go along with what feels true.
The process is enjoyable and loaded with information.
After they’re finished I usually receive a “download” of meaning. Things that my dolls “tell me”

Prehistoric creatures,
To meet you I had to dig
To the centre of the earth
I went through tunnels and paths
I didn’t know that even existed
All was a dark and silent
And felt like a home
I found a lake
And floated in it for a very long time
With eyes wide open
The water was dark green and fresh and calm
And it felt like a home too
Then I came up to earth and to time
and I was all covered in gold

Two Meliquinas and One Traful

With big staring eyes and gold dipped noses, two Meliquinas and one Traful arrive directly from the depth of the lakes and from a million years ago.

You shouldn't think it's easy to find a place for a prehistoric creature on your ordinary IKEA shelf, nonetheless, they're precious to me.

Theo said they're "Tribal Chiefs" and it feels appropriate.

I hope you like them!
I'll tell you more about them soon.

Prehistoric

To think that the rocks I've collected are a million years old. (or so :)
Prehistoric creatures are coming soon...

El Sur

El Sur. South. Vacations. It could be any other place but, not only we love it there, but friends are there, and friends make all the difference!

We spent lovely days at the cozy cabin. Reading by the swimming pool and playing pool (the summer hit)

Although the best memories are those of the less comfy but more fun camping days.

Being so close to nature is worthwhile the price of sleeping a bit uncomfortable and a tad cold.

Check our spontaneous buddies. They were everywhere around and we had to mind our steps!

Better by the fire. Here, savouring a very delicious and thick liquor. So creamy and thick that we needed to use a little spoon.

Improvised breakfast on the rustic pier by the lake

And kayak, the most fun lake activity ever!

Green Meliquina River. Another fave, where I've collected many rocks that I'm turning into new dolls.

Guindas from the tree. T and I are the pickers. We collected and ate a half a pound each :)

A happy camper (and that's the last pic with my beloved thermos that was sadly forgotten at that exact spot in Meliquina River)

It was hard to come back this time! I usually make up my mind and look forward to the next creative project that awaits me back home, but this time all I wanted was to stay longer!

One One Twenty Nineteen

Hello and Happy New Year!

Starting the day very early (6 AM) after going to bed very late in the night (2AM). Ouch!
Because, why would you sleep in  when you can be an old lady with an annoying and merciless internal alarm clock ;-P

Anyway,  feeling energized after our vacations I spent a day working a lot since very early. Several hours of clay while the family started a slow lazy day,  little by little, all around.

Then, meeting for a short while with my dear friend. A good way to start the year!

And later some food preparation. Hummus and veggie soup in an attempt to go back to healthy frugality after some very starchy vacations.

I've been thinking that my wish for the sun bathed wooden desk by the large window (from my last entry) got somehow fulfilled. Even if for a short time, the essence was there.

And the flowers....the flowers were not cut and not on the table.

They were spread all over paradise.

Pink and many shades of purple lupins.

Yellow Retama Silvestre. Locals complaint about this one. They say it's invasive.
If you're going to be invaded let it be this way,  right?

Beautifully shaped Notro flower. Everywhere and by the lake too.

And the most amazing and beautiful and every possible color(ed) roses ALL over town. Every single street in town was full of roses in bloom. An immersion in beauty.! So good for the heart and soul.

A Toast for a New Year! Blessings!
